My first newsworthy story is definitely my own. I am excited about going LIVE with Saint John Island Guide and becoming an integral part in helping Visitors and Residents navigate Saint John with all the information needed to enjoy the island. The website was born from my creative passion and really wanting a place to go online where you could get current information about Saint John. There are several websites out there with information about some aspects of Saint John, but most of the information is outdated. After personally dealing with the frustration of island life without the information that would make life easier, I got busy creating the logo and off I went, one category at a time until I felt there was a good representation of Saint John. There are 31 categories. I thought I would stop at 30, but then STORIES OF LOVE CITY popped in my head and just felt Visitors and Residents alike needed a place to share their special stories of how the island has become intertwined in their lives through their special memories of why Saint John is such a unique place in the world.
This project has been been in the making this past year and will continue to come to fruition in 2023. The website will be available on mobile and desktop devices. Also, this website is not about recreating the wheel either, such as the HISTORY page guides you towards those who have dedicated their knowledge, time and energy sharing their passion about the history of Saint John including historical societies, authors, websites, or other resources.
This website is a work in progress, although I felt the foundation had been created with enough information to make the website live. You may see a few “MORE INFORMATION TO COME” banners.
If you find something wrong, kindly send an email to saintjohnislandguide@gmail.com, and we will remedy the mistake. There will be places for comments on the website. Heads up, I will not approve any negative comments. If you have suggestions and would like to enhance the content, I welcome your comments with open arms. If you want a place to scrutinize the business model or attack others, I will not let that happen. This website will be TO LIFT SAINT JOHN UP in whatever small contribution possible, and to create a viable business in order to keep all information current and useful while helping Visitors plan their trips.
Local Businesses, Residents, and Visitors are welcome to contact saintjohnislandguide@gmail.com about advertising, news stories, events, or suggestions for Saint John Island Guide. This is venture is brand new, there are many advertising opportunities and partnerships, so please email your inquiries.
I would like to partner with local charities for sponsorship, as well as supporting fundraisers for the benefit of any non-profit 501(c)3 on Saint John.
I appreciate your support and look forward to a long standing relationship with Visitors and Residents to help celebrate Saint John!
Be Kind, Jackie Colvin
