LITTLE LAMESHUR BEACH Claimed

Just to the east of Reef Bay on the South Shore of Saint John, you will find Lameshur Bays.  Made up of two bays to include Europa Bay, Little Lameshur and Great Lameshur Bays.  They are part of the Virgin Islands National Park and truly deliver with opportunities to get away from it all and hang out on the beach, take a hike, go snorkeling, or go exploring.  Little Lameshur has a beautiful sandy white beach although the shoreline is a little rocky.

The road heading into Little Lameshur Bay is quite a bumpy trip, although some folks find it fun and challenging all at the same time.  Please use an AWD or 4-Wheel Drive vehicle to access the area.  Also please bring food and water with you.  There are a couple of picnic tables and a grill for your use.  As well, there is a restroom.

The best snorkeling happens early in the morning when the sun is not so hot and the crowds haven’t arrived yet.  There are lots of undersea outcroppings, sea grass, and the most beautiful Caribbean water which is why Little Lameshur is a top destination spot for snorkeling.  So many underwater treasures just waiting for you, incredible coral reefs and beautiful sea turtles and eagle sting rays.  On the left side of the Bay you are sure to see a plethora of tropical fish such as Parrotfish, Filefish, Angelfish, Blue Tangs and so many more.

If you enjoy hiking, bring your hiking gear as this Bay has access to many hiking trails most of which provide stunning views.  The Lameshur Bay Trail runs east to meet the Reef Bay Trail.  Along this route you can visit the Great Reef Bay House Ruins and the Petroglyphs.  The ancient artwork still holds mysteries today of its origins.  There are still more trails to hike in this area.
