Just beyond Coral Bay, this Nature Sanctuary is nestled in the VI National Park. Affordable, quiet, peaceful, comfortable, unpretentious living in the Caribbean is what is offered to the traveler who wants to get away far, far from the maddening crowds yet remain close enough to grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping. Located a short distance from the end of the bus line at Salt Pond Bay, above Mandahl Pond, with sea views to Grootpan Bay. The Cottages are within easy walking distances to Salt Pond, Kiddel and Grootpan Bays. Both Lameshur Bays can be accessed by car (8 min. drive), whereby one can park, then embark upon hiking trails to Europa Bay, and Reef Bay’s iconic Sugar Mill ruins and Petroglyphs.
The property consists of two separate houses: Fiddlewood and Calabash Cottages. Fiddlewood Cottage consists of a complete home including 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, and Queen pullout couch. Calabash Cottage is an Efficiency (14′ x 16′ with separate bath building), as well as there is an additional Tent as a 3rd bedroom. All together sleeps 4-8 Guests in a very private secluded setting. Mature gardens and large shade trees, this peace-filled sanctuary is only a 10 minute drive to Coral Bay for groceries, shopping, and restaurants.
Fiddlewood Cottage is a very well-equipped home away from home with full kitchen including drinking water provided at the sink. Tradewinds wafting through plus ceiling fans in every room with AC in the Master bedroom, keeps the air circulating and cool throughout. There’s ample seating areas inside and out so everyone can find their own private niches to read and relax. An outside dining table seats four, but for larger groups requiring more seating, a larger table can be provided. Sleeping arrangements are a queen size bed in the master bedroom, living room, has a queen pull out couch, plus a single sleeping settee on the screened-in porch.
Calabash Cottage is a 14′ x 16′ efficiency with small refrigerator and cooking facilities including microwave, coffeemaker, hot plate, and outside gas grill. The screened breezy space has two twin beds that can be converted into a king for couples, fans, WIFI plus separate full bathroom building, 10 steps from Fiddlewood Cottage with open air charm, as well as privacy. A small outside deck has dining table plus comfortable sitting chairs facing West, looking out over Grootpan Bay.
Just below the deck off the screened porch is a tent platform which serves as a 3rd bedroom, sleeping 1 or 2. It has standing room, two twin beds, a fan, electricity, and WIFI.
AMENITIES:
Dish, bath and laundry soaps, paper towels, toilet paper, all kitchen supplies, oils, vinegars, spices, bath & beach towels, beach chairs, swim fins (masks not provided), outdoor gas grills, a washing machine ($5/load, hang dry). Parking right to the front door at Fiddlewood plus additional space above Calabash for 2nd car. Fresh herbs, some seasonal fruits plus medicinal plants growing throughout the property with outside dining tables at both cottages.
Southwest facing decks with comfortable chairs for shaded morning coffee, sunset views to Grootpan Bay with distant sounds of crashing waves and star-filled skies devoid of light pollution. A perfect place for retreats, honeymoons and nature filled getaways.
The ceremony space can be used for intimate weddings, celebrations of life, plant ceremonies, earthing or grounding within your yoga practices. It has a fire pan for small nightly fires, with chairs plus plenty space to play croquet or just to lie down and stargaze. The first fire is complimentary. After that a $20/per burn is charged and these are scheduled to secure a “Burn Permit” from the Fire Department.
