EASY TO MODERATE | 2.2 MILES (OUT AND BACK) | 1 HOUR

The Europa Bay Trail in St. John is a 2.2 mile out-and-back hike leading to the secluded and rocky Europa Bay on St. John.  The trail is suitable for most fitness levels. While the route follows the coastline, it’s important to note that it isn’t directly on the beach. The trail winds through the island’s interior, offering glimpses of the surrounding landscape and vegetation showcasing views of the coastline and the distinctive character of Europa Bay’s coral cobble stone beach. This hike is perfect for those seeking a less crowded and more adventurous experience.

The Europa Bay Trail is a spur from the Lameshur Trail and is about a .5 mile hike to get to the Europa Bay trail head.  The Lameshur Trail does provide parking.  The trail is well-maintained, but can be challenging in sections due to the terrain.  The trail is mostly wooded, but can become exposed during midday.  You can also access the Lameshur Trail to the Europa Bay Trail by way of the Bordeaux Mountain Trail which is considered strenuous, with an elevation gain from sea level to 1200 feet within a mile.

This trail is popular for bird watching!  Europa Bay can be windy, and the waves are often intimidating, making swimming dangerous.
